Transcendence Artes began as an idea to create metaphysical and spiritual supplies as a part time, seasonal vending gig March 16th 2003. It didn't have a name for the first six months but we eventually named it The Veil. We made our home base in Savannah for 13 years before moving to Vidalia and finally making our home in my hometown of Fort Valley. During that time we have been blessed to be surrounded by amazing artists and artisans, festivals, and locations. My basis has always been to bring art and Nature together. The Veil has been an active part of Savannah and Vidalia's mystical community with an inclusive perspective and community driven goal. Not only do I want to create beautiful, practical tools to enhance spirituality, I want to leave a positive impact on the culture and the world I live in.
From the beginning I have made sustainability and local sourcing a priority. The majority of my stones are sourced from mines in the Carolinas, North Georgia, Arkansas, Mexico, California, and South America. All of my herbs and smoke clearing supplies are sourced from local farms, Canadian farms, or grown in my own green house. I wanted to create a shop that was greatly inspired by my love for art and the majority of my stock...more than 90%...is handcrafted. It's a point of pride to be self-sustaining and use up-cycling as a means of creating beautiful, functional, and comfortable pieces. Taking care of the planet is a strong part of my path and it is a strong ingredient in my creative process so nothing is wasted. In fact, we only have 1 or 2 bags of waste per year from my atelier because everything is meticulously measured, weighed, and re-purposed. My packaging is also repurposed and many of the natural elements I incorporate are scavenged. Nothing goes to waste in Nature or in art.
From day one the culture of The Veil was always about inclusion. We have hosted events in the Gothic community, sponsored and hosted Pagan Pride events, and hosted community charities and circles. I wanted my shop to be a haven for all types of people where they would feel safe and comfortable. Now that my shop is strictly virtual I extend that vibe to this location also (SMIB!) and so my shop has something for everyone. Pagans have a lot of different facets and as a Pagan, Witch, gamer, sci-fi fan I try to create things that are just fun as well as serious Witchcraft gifts. I want everyone who comes to my shop to feel included and important because you are. You will find things that are practical, some that are very Old World Witchy, and some that are whimsical, gothic, or fan-based alongside Pride items. You are welcome. You are important.
In 2017 my shop underwent a complete transformation. It maintained the basic core culture of its origins but it emerged with a very Old World vibe. My pieces are now done in the American Primitive Impressionist style which incorporates the simplicity of Primitive art with the complexity and intricate detailing of American Impressionist style. In addition to this style, I also offer canvas prints, photography on canvas, and original Expressionist and Impressionist style pieces alongside traditional altar tools and spellcraft supplies. I want the tools you use to make you feel. I expanded into alchemical pieces that blend the arcane with the modern and beautiful with practical. Transcendence Artes emerged as a blend of the Old World with the New with a smooth finish of whimsy and practical function. The culture of my shop is one of inclusion, of natural reverence, artistic expression, and Old World Witchery meets modern science. Your support has meant everything in how this experience has evolved. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your place in my journey and your support.
